Journey Kids

Journey Kids is Open Temple’s creative and welcoming program for families with children under 7.

Comprised of regular gatherings at Open Temple House, and weekly opportunities for Candle Lighting and community, Journey Kids introduces children to the joy of doing Judaism together.

The Year:

We begin our year with a celebration of Rosh HaShanah, tasting the sweetness of apples and honey with special ritual created and led by our rabbinic team on “how to do Jew” in 5785. We continue with an intimate experience in our Sukkah for Sukkot, and journey through the year together singing songs, learning prayers, building rituals and community…together.

At Open Temple we recognize that spiritual education should not be a burden to the family; rather, a joyful enrichment that nourishes us at home and away.

Journey Kids is for children and parents who want to experience the sweetness of exploring creativity and ritual together, and establish individualized family practices while building deep relationships with other families.

Tuition:

Participation in Journey Kids is open to all Open Temple Co-Creators. We also have a special Journey Kids package which includes Journey Kids and some Co-Creator only happenings. We ask that you commit to attending at least 6 gatherings annually, including at least 3 candlelightings. This commitment will allow us to get to know you, and for you to get to know the other Journey Kids families.

Enrollment is now open for Fall 2024/5785. For any questions, please reach out to Kirsten Hudson. If you’re ready to sign up or re-enroll:

The evening was amazing, the service was more than wonderful and one that everyone is still talking about. Our friends and family were left with a feeling of knowing what they sat through – a loving, warm service that transmitted the knowledge of what the process was all about. They experienced a Bar Mitzvah in a way none have done so before (as did we).
