Open Temple’s DAWN: a Purim Bash for the detoxing, Jewish Mardi Gras loving, Junkaroo jamming, Carnival cavorting Seeker of a new Jewish age of Purim celebration, where shots are wheat grass green, and transcendence comes from our sweat lodge of dancing bodies.

With the support of NuRoots, Temple Emanuel’s YoPros, and Om Shalom Yoga.

“Dawn:  the Open Temple Purim Bash” was produced by the producers of Los Angeles’ local Daybreaker dance parties. Rabbi Lori attended her first Daybreaker two years ago and immediately felt that “this was Purim.” Daybreaker parties are sober raves where celebration is inspired by getting high on life, yoga, music and community. As one of the mitzvot of Purim is “to not be able to tell the difference between Mordechai and Haman (through alcohol)” Open Temple’s Purim Bash challenged the reveler to achieve this through dance, celebration, projections of word and image, Om Shalom Yoga, aerialist performance, live music, DJ, spoken word and laughter. The party was featured by Snapchat as “Los Angeles Story of the Day” right next to Hillary Clinton’s visit to USC, and these images indicated that Open Temple did, indeed, achieve this goal.

And according to the Jewish Journal, we combined the “holy with the holistic.
